History of Creekside

Creekside Church began as a result of the prayerful vision of First Baptist Church, Pikeville and their Pastor, John Lucas.  First Baptist Church had started many missions through the years and as a result many churches were birthed over the last several decades.  For over 40 years, First Baptist Church had a mission in the Island Creek community just a few miles from Pikeville.  Many lives were changed as a result of that mission, but due to several factors the mission closed in January of 2017.  It became clear to the leadership of First Baptist Church, Pikeville that the property would now be used to start a new church from scratch.  Just prior to the last worship service, Jason Johnson who had attended the mission as a child and had grown up in this community, felt called by the Lord to plant a new church in the area.  After months of prayer and preparation, Creekside Church was started and held the first Sunday worship service on August 20, 2017 with 266 people in attendance.  God is continuing to bless this new church plant and as the church grows, the plan is for Creekside to also be a church that starts other new works in the area.
